We met during freshman year at Allegheny College, when Wesley helped Jordyn with her calculus homework. However, it wasn’t until our sophomore year that we really became close. We spent many weekends with our group of friends watching Lord of the Rings, playing Mario Kart and sharing in many college friend group adventures. 

 

One late weeknight while Wesley was holding office hours for computer science he sent out a message to his friends saying that office hours were empty if anyone wanted to come by and hang out. Jordyn, on her way back from the library decided to swing by, where we talked for 2 hours uninterrupted, and we haven’t really stopped talking since. 

 

After getting many dinners together, many movie and game nights and many visits to Jordyn while she was working at the library, in December of 2019, we decided to make it official. But in March of 2020 there was a global pandemic, and the colleges sent all their students away. It was during this time that we were restricted to texts and phone calls until months later, when we were able to return to our college campus. However, what we didn’t know at the time was that during those few months apart, God was preparing us to spend the 3 years following graduation in a long distance relationship. Spending so much time apart really helped us master our communication with each other and shaped the strong relationship we share today. 

 

In May of 2024, while on vacation in Grand Rapids, MI, Wesley got down on one knee and asked Jordyn to be his partner for life. To which, she responded with an overwhelming “Yes!”.
